The Southern Illinois Miners (41-27) beat the River City Rascals (41-27) 6-1 on Sunday at Rent One Park, Marion, IL behind Frank Martinez, who went 4-4 at the plate.

James Bierlein put together a nice outing. Bierlein held the River City Rascals hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out three.

Joe Staley was solid at the plate for the River City Rascals. Staley went 2-4 and drove in one. He singled in the second inning.

Michael Carden recorded his third win of the year for the Southern Illinois Miners. He allowed one run over five innings. He struck out two, walked four and surrendered three hits.

Kyle Brady ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked five, struck out six, and allowed three runs.
