The Southern Illinois Miners (28-22) beat the Gateway Grizzlies (33-18) 6-2 on Saturday at GCS Ballpark behind Jay Austin, who drove in four runs.

Tyler Lavigne struck out six, paving the way for a the Southern Illinois Miners win. Lavigne allowed two earned runs, five hits and two walks over six innings.

Landon Hernandez had a hot bat for the Gateway Grizzlies. Hernandez went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the fourth inning and singled in the ninth inning.

Kerry Kelley was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just seven innings, walked four, struck out three, and allowed three runs.
