The Butler Blue Sox (1-1) beat the West Virginia Miners (0-1) 2-1 on Thursday at Pullman Park behind Ryan Uhl, who went 2-3.

The West Virginia Miners had no answer for David Bednar, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The West Virginia Miners managed just three hits off of the the Butler Blue Sox's pitcher, who allowed one earned run, walked two and struck out five during his six innings of work.

Andrew Bramley (0-1) took the loss for the West Virginia Miners. He lasted just six innings, walked two, struck out seven, and allowed two runs.
