Six first-inning runs helped the Lakeshore Chinooks (6-4) to a 9-7 win over the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (3-7) at Witter Field on Saturday.

The Lakeshore Chinooks held off the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters, as the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters were unable to overcome a six-run first inning deficit.

The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters scored on a two-run home run by Jeremy Montalbano in the second inning, a fielder's choice in the seventh inning, and an RBI double by Cort Brinson, an RBI single by Zack Belanger, and a two-run double by Michael Jurgella in the eighth inning. Unfortunately, the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters weren't able to take the lead back.

Ryan Solberg racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Lakeshore Chinooks. He homered in the first inning and singled in the third inning.

Nate Hoffmann got the win, running his season record to 2-0. He allowed four runs over five innings. Hoffmann struck out three, walked one and gave up six hits.

Brandon Winfield (0-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed six runs in two innings, walked two and struck out one.
