The USSSA Pride jump on the Akron Racers early and coast to 12-4 win

The USSSA Pride (27-12) jumped out to an early lead on the Akron Racers (14-24) and captured a 12-4 victory on Sunday at Firestone Stadium.

The game was decided quickly as the USSSA Pride exerted their will early with nine runs in the first three innings.

A two-run single by Megan Willis and an RBI single by Natasha Watley in the second inning helped the USSSA Pride put some runs on the board early.

Ashley Charters racked up three RBIs on two hits for the USSSA Pride. She homered in the third inning and singled in the fifth inning.

Sam Marder was hot from the plate for the Akron Racers. Marder went 3-4 and drove in one. She singled in the second, third, and seventh innings.

Chelsea Thomas got the win, running her season record to 1-1. She allowed one run over two innings. She struck out one, walked none and surrendered one hit.

Hillary Bach was charged with her second loss of the year. She allowed six runs in 2 1/3 innings, walked two and struck out one.
