Early lead gives the Orleans Firebirds easy victory over the Chatham Anglers, 12-3

The Orleans Firebirds (24-19) shut the door early on the Chatham Anglers (26-17), capturing a 12-3 victory on Sunday at Eldredge Park.

With eight runs in the first three innings, the Orleans Firebirds left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

An RBI double by Jordan Luplow and a groundout by Chris Marconcini in the first inning and an RBI single by Will Fulmer, an RBI single by Luplow, a two-run single by Marconcini, a two-run single by Marconcini, an RBI single by Jordan Betts, and an RBI single by Austin Davidson during the second inning supplied the early offense for the Orleans Firebirds.

Fulmer had a hot bat for the Orleans Firebirds. Fulmer went 3-5, drove in one and scored three runs.

Despite the loss, the Chatham Anglers' Chad Sobotka dominated the Orleans Firebirds' batters, giving up one run and striking out five.

Kyle Twomey improved to 2-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Orleans Firebirds. He allowed two runs over 2 1/3 innings. He struck out four, walked one and surrendered five hits.

Jimmy Litchfield was charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed eight runs in 1 1/3 innings, walked two and struck out none.
