A three-run eighth inning sealed an 11-3 win for the Brewster Whitecaps (10-16) over the Orleans Firebirds (11-15) on Sunday at Stony Brook.

Scott Heineman went a perfect 5-5 at the dish for the Brewster Whitecaps. He tripled in the fifth inning and singled in the first, third, seventh, and eighth innings.

The Orleans Firebirds were led by Austin Davidson's hitting. Davidson went 3-5 and drove in one. He doubled in the fifth inning and singled in the first and seventh innings.

Aaron Brown improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Brewster Whitecaps. He allowed two runs over five innings. Brown struck out five, walked two and gave up six hits.

Shawn ONeill (0-1) took the loss for the Orleans Firebirds. He lasted just 3 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
