The Evansville Otters (30-35) scored five runs in the eighth to cap a 12-5 win over the Southern Illinois Miners (36-30) on Friday.

The Southern Illinois Miners jumped out to an early lead, but they were unable to hang on. The Southern Illinois Miners were up until the fourth inning, but the Evansville Otters had other plans for the final outcome, taking the lead back.

Steve Marino racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Evansville Otters. He homered in the second inning and singled in the fourth and fifth innings.

Scott Weismann improved to 3-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Evansville Otters. Weismann struck out three, walked none and gave up two hits.

Matt Crim (1-1) took the loss for the Southern Illinois Miners. He allowed seven runs in 3 2/3 innings, walked four and struck out one.
