The Joliet Slammers need walk-off single to beat the River City Rascals, 5-4

A walk-off single from Jerod Yakubik brought home the winning run for the Joliet Slammers (11-16) in a 5-4 victory over the River City Rascals (9-17) at Silver Cross Field on Tuesday.

Yakubik did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Joliet Slammers, reaching base two times. He also drove in one runner. He singled in the ninth inning.

Michael Wing racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Joliet Slammers. He singled in the seventh inning and doubled in the ninth inning.

Brett Zawacki baffled the River City Rascals, striking out seven batters. Zawacki allowed two earned runs, six hits and one walk over six innings.

Curran Redal racked up two RBIs on three hits for the River City Rascals. He singled in the third, sixth, and seventh innings.

Justin Erasmus recorded his first win of the year for the Joliet Slammers. Erasmus struck out none, walked none and gave up one hit.

Gabriel Shaw (1-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed three runs.
