The Gateway Grizzlies fend off the Rockford Aviators' late push, hold on 5-4

The Rockford Aviators (1-10) were unable to fight back from the big hole they dug themselves into against the Gateway Grizzlies (8-3), and the Rockford Aviators lost 5-4 to the Gateway Grizzlies after falling behind by four runs in the seventh inning.

The Rockford Aviators scored three runs in the ninth on a two-run triple by Chase Larsson and a groundout by Alvaro Ramirez. Still, the Rockford Aviators couldn't draw even.

Antone DeJesus was solid at the plate for the Gateway Grizzlies. DeJesus went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the fifth and seventh innings.

JaVaun West picked up the win for the Gateway Grizzlies. West allowed one earned run, five hits and three walks while striking out five over seven innings of work.

Larsson led the Rockford Aviators' offensive threat, as he got on base four times in the game. He scored one run and had two RBIs. He tripled in the ninth inning.

Trevor Harden was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just 6 2/3 innings, walked three, struck out eight, and allowed five runs.
