C.J. Beatty brought home the go-ahead run to give the Washington Wild Things (10-5) the lead in the sixth inning, as the Washington Wild Things hung on to beat the Rockford Aviators (1-13) 5-2 on Wednesday.
Darian Sanford singled to get on base in the sixth. He then went from first to second on a single by Gus Benusa.Benusa racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Washington Wild Things. He singled in the sixth innings and homered in the eighth inning.
The Washington Wild Things got the win thanks in large part to Gary Lee's dominant, six-strikeout performance. Lee allowed one earned run on six hits and no walks over seven innings.
Despite the loss, the Rockford Aviators' Drew Rucinski dominated the Washington Wild Things' batters, giving up two runs and striking out eight.
Rucinski couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Rockford Aviators, taking a loss.
