The winner winner (13-10) failed to take advantage of Kevin Burch's effort at the plate on Wednesday, losing 17-11 to the South Shore Diggers (14-9) in seven innings at Bellport #2.
Burch rocked the South Shore Diggers with two home runs. Burch went 2-3 in the game with four RBIs and three runs scored. Burch homered in the fourth and fifth innings.
The two teams combined for 28 runs and 37 hits, including zero extra base hits.
Eleven runs in the opening three innings allowed the South Shore Diggers to easily put away the winner winner. A single by Jerry Inghalri, an RBI single by Dan Muglavera, a sacrifice fly by Ryan Klett, and in the first inning and a sacrifice fly by Kurt Baumiller, a single by Pat Sceccifio, an RBI single by Muglavera, a fielder's choice, and an RBI single by Phil Patanjo during the second inning helped the South Shore Diggers put some runs on the board early.
Inghalri racked up three RBIs on four hits for the South Shore Diggers.
Muglavera recorded his eighth win for the South Shore Diggers even though he allowed 11 runs over seven innings. He struck out none, walked seven and surrendered 13 hits.
John Hoag (1-5) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed 17 runs in seven innings, walked four and struck out none.
The South Shore Diggers easily handled the winner winner pitching as eight hitters combined for 21 hits, 17 RBIs and 14 runs scored.
