The Long Island Heavy Hitters fight back, defeat the Wise Guys Rudis, 16-14

The Long Island Heavy Hitters (6-13) trailed by nine in the first, but Matt Gioredano was able to capture the lead back with a three-run home run in the sixth, spurring the Long Island Heavy Hitters to a 16-14 win in seven innings over the Wise Guys Rudis (16-9) at Dowling on Sunday.

With the Long Island Heavy Hitters trailing by two, Gioredano came to the plate and homered, bringing home Chuck Watson and Frank Messana.

Gioredano racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Long Island Heavy Hitters. He singled in the second inning and homered in the sixth inning.

The two teams combined for 30 runs and 37 hits, including zero extra base hits.

The Long Island Heavy Hitters staved off the Wise Guys Rudis as the Wise Guys Rudis were unable to match the Long Island Heavy Hitters down the stretch.

The Wise Guys Rudis scored three runs in the seventh on two triples. Despite their efforts, the Wise Guys Rudis couldn't get over the hump.

Watson racked up three RBIs on four hits for the Long Island Heavy Hitters. He singled in the second, third, sixth, and seventh innings.

Mike Ryan recorded his first win for the Long Island Heavy Hitters even though he allowed 14 runs over seven innings. Ryan struck out none, walked four and gave up 17 hits.

Charlie Baumgartner ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed 16 runs in seven innings, walked three and struck out one.

The Long Island Heavy Hitters pounded the Wise Guys Rudis pitching, as six hitters combined for 16 hits, 14 RBIs and 11 runs scored.
