The Haysville Heat (2-0) and the North County Waves (1-1) passed the lead back and forth five times on Friday at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium, but in the end the Haysville Heat pulled out an 8-6 win over the North County Waves.
The Haysville Heat took the lead in the eighth inning and held on for the victory. A sacrifice fly by Adam Jones scored Erick Gaylord and gave the Haysville Heat the lead for good.
Nick Thimesch reached base three times. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He singled in the fifth and eighth innings.
JIM MAXWELL racked up three RBIs on three hits for the North County Waves. He singled in the first and fifth innings and doubled in the seventh innings.
Ryan Thompson recorded his first win of the year for the Haysville Heat. Thompson struck out none, walked none and gave up no hits.
MATT STALCUP (0-1) took the loss for the North County Waves. He allowed six runs in 2 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out two.
