The Gateway Grizzlies (40-29) took down the Road Warriors 9-1 on Thursday at GCS Ballpark - Sauget, IL after slamming the Road Warriors (3-6) with eight runs in the eighth inning.

John Shelby helped the Gateway Grizzlies take the lead for good in the eighth inning. Jon Myers singled to start the eighth. He then went from first to second on an error. Finally, Shelby came to the plate with the score tied at one, and singled, scoring Myers.

Antone DeJesus paced the Gateway Grizzlies at the plate. DeJesus went 3-5, drove in one and scored two runs. He doubled in the second inning and singled in the eighth innings.

Chris Enourato allowed one earned run, four hits and two walks while striking out three over six innings of work.

Jordan Cudney improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Gateway Grizzlies. He struck out three, walked none and surrendered one hit.

Kevin McGovern couldn't get it done on the mound for the Road Warriors, taking a loss. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed three runs.
