The Kitchener Panthers (11-13) failed to take advantage of Mitch Delaney's effort at the plate on Thursday, losing 7-5 to the Toronto Maple Leafs (12-13) at Jack Couch Park.
Delaney blasted two home runs for the Kitchener Panthers. Delaney went 2-4 in the game with three RBIs and two runs scored. Delaney homered in the first and fifth innings.
Jesse Bartle helped the Toronto Maple Leafs take the lead for good in the seventh inning. Glenn Jackson reached on an error to start the seventh. He then went from first to second on a stolen base. Finally, Bartle came to the plate with the score tied at five in the seventh inning, and singled, plating Jackson.
Justin Gianfrancesco racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Toronto Maple Leafs. He homered in the sixth innings and singled in the eighth inning.
Marek Deska got his seventh win for the Toronto Maple Leafs despite allowing five runs over nine innings. Deska struck out 10, walked three and gave up 10 hits.
Ryan Schwenn ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 2 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
