Cohl Walla was named a Freshman All-American by Baseball America at the University of Texas but a knee injury and other circumstances prevented him from spending much more time in a UT uniform. Walla joined the Aviators late in the 2013 season and played sparingly, as manager James Frisbie tried to keep at-bats down in order to retain Walla's Rookie-1 status for 2014. Walla began the 2013 season with the Rio Grande Valley White Wings of the United League and only appeared in four games. With Rockford, Walla played in 19 games and was used mostly as a pinch runner late in games. Walla did prove to be a good center field option when he did start games.
