Daniel Cropper is a 6'4" pitcher who will play in his first season with the Fredom in 2013. After a great career at Snow Hill High School in Maryland, where he earned the honors of being a 2005 and 2006 Louisville Slugger All-American selection, Cropper decided to play baseball with the UNC Willmington Seahawks. In his first season with the team, Cropper was named as a Freshman All-America selection by Ping Baseball after finishing with a 5-5 record and a 3.75 ERA. After redshirting for the 2008 season, Cropper was selected by the Washington Nationals in the 2009 MLB Draft, but opted to finish his college career instead. In the next two years, Cropper pitched in 31 games and earned an 8-6 record before having the best season of his college career. In his senior year, Cropper earned an 8-3 record in 14 games, threw 3 complete games, maintained an ERA of 3.97, and tossed 80 strikeouts in just over 90 innings pitched. After graduating, Cropper hoped to get drafted once again in the 2011 MLB draft, but wasn't selected. He signed as an undrafted free agent with the Arizona Padres, a minor league affiliate of the San Diego Padres, and stayed in the Padres organization through 2012, including a 5 game stint with their AA organization, the San Antonio Missions. Cropper signed with the Freedom before the 2013 season.
