Suggs comes to Wichita following four seasons in the Miami Marlins organization. The Sulphur Springs, Texas, native was a standout reliever at the University of Arkansas, never finishing with an ERA higher than 1.74 and piling up 13 saves as a senior. The right-hander made three stops in 2013, beginning at the Marlins rookie-level affiliate in the Gulf Coast League and climbing as high as High-A Jupiter. Suggs remained at Jupiter for all of 2014, going 1-6 with a 5.09 ERA in 46 appearances, all out of the bullpen. In 2015, the 25-year old was off to his best start as a professional, tossing five scoreless outings for Class A Greensboro before Tommy John surgery ended his season. Suggs came back to pitch in six games for the Gulf Coast League Marlins in 2016, before being released in July.
