The Long Island Ducks get on top of the Bridgeport Bluefish early but can't hang on in 5-4 loss

The Long Island Ducks (44-41) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 5-4 to the Bridgeport Bluefish (39-47) on Sunday.

The Bridgeport Bluefish took the lead in the seventh inning on a two-run double by Brock Peterson.

Peterson had two extra-base hits for the Bridgeport Bluefish. He tripled in the first inning and doubled in the seventh inning.

Reid Gorecki did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Long Island Ducks, reaching base three times. He doubled in the first inning.

Chris Flinn looked sharp on the mound. The Bridgeport Bluefish managed just four hits off of Flinn, who allowed one earned run, walked one and struck out two during his five innings of work.

Brad Thompson improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Bridgeport Bluefish. He allowed four runs over seven innings. Thompson struck out three, walked two and gave up six hits.

Jon Hunton couldn't get it done on the mound for the Long Island Ducks, taking a loss. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed four runs.

The Bridgeport Bluefish were sparked by Eddie Rogers and Peterson, who teamed up for five hits and two RBIs.
