The Saskatoon Yellow Jackets (14-19) failed to take advantage of Hans Ask's effort at the plate on Monday, losing 11-8 to the Weyburn Beavers (14-18) in eight innings at WEYBURN.
Ask rocked the Weyburn Beavers with two home runs. Ask went 2-5 in the game with four RBIs and two runs scored. Ask homered in the third and sixth innings.
Each team blasted the other's pitching, and there were 19 total runs and 30 hits during the game. Managers of the two teams seemingly emptied their bullpens in search of the win, as there were 11 pitchers used in the game.
The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to five lead changes in the game.
The Weyburn Beavers took the lead in the eighth inning and held on for the victory. A groundout by Chris Van Keulen scored Derek Wallace and gave the Weyburn Beavers the lead for good.
Wallace racked up two RBIs on four hits for the Weyburn Beavers. He homered in the fifth inning and singled in the first, sixth, and eighth innings.
Stuart Springer improved to 1-4 on the year by picking up the win for the Weyburn Beavers. He allowed three runs over two-thirds of an inning. Springer struck out one, walked none and gave up three hits.
Brady Pierce was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just two innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed three runs.
