The Yorkton Cardinals make the most of 4 hits in 4-3 victory over the Regina Red Sox

Both the Yorkton Cardinals (8-19) and the Regina Red Sox (20-6) put runners aboard on Wednesday, but it was the Yorkton Cardinals that were able to take advantage, pulling out a 4-3 win at Currie Field.

The Yorkton Cardinals would not relinquish the lead as the Regina Red Sox were unable to weather a four-run fourth inning deficit.

The Regina Red Sox scored on an RBI single by Daniel Bick and an RBI single by Geoff MacDonald in the fourth inning and a groundout by Jeremy Donaldson in the ninth inning. Despite their efforts, the Regina Red Sox couldn't finish the comeback.

It was a good day at the plate for the Yorkton Cardinals' Brett Smith. Smith went 1-1 and scored two runs. He doubled in the fourth inning.

Jamie Whitehead got the win, running his season record to 1-3. He allowed two runs over five innings. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered eight hits.

Daniel Eaton ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just eight innings, walked four, struck out five, and allowed four runs.
