The Garden City Wind outlast the Topeka Train Robbers in high-scoring affair, 9-8

The bats were busy at Bettis Complex on Friday, and when the dust cleared the Garden City Wind (17-16) had a 9-8 win over the Topeka Train Robbers (14-20).

The two teams combined for 18 hits in the game.

Beau Welborn was solid at the plate for the Garden City Wind. Welborn went 2-5, drove in one and scored three runs. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the third inning.

Gabriel Acevedo did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Topeka Train Robbers, reaching base two times. He scored one run and had one RBI. He homered in the fifth inning.

Even though Ryan Riordan allowed six runs over seven innings he still recorded the victory, his second of the season. Riordan struck out three, walked eight and gave up seven hits.
