The Medicine Hat Mavericks (7-2) beat the Fort McMurray Giants (3-7) 10-5 on Friday at Telus Field behind William Salas, who had two extra base hits.

He doubled in the sixth and ninth innings.

The Medicine Hat Mavericks got the win thanks in large part to Caleb Duhay's dominant, six-strikeout performance. Duhay allowed two earned runs, five hits and one walk over six innings.

Dugan Shirer had a hot bat for the Fort McMurray Giants. Shirer went 4-5 and scored one run. He tripled in the fifth inning and singled in the first, seventh, and eighth innings.

Curtis Bafus couldn't get it done on the bump for the Fort McMurray Giants, taking a loss. He lasted just 2 2/3 innings, walked six, struck out three, and allowed five runs.
