The Butler BlueSox escape the West Virginia Miners behind Coward's 13 strikeouts, 6-1

An ace performance by Connor Coward hoisted the Butler BlueSox (21-27) to a 6-1 win over the West Virginia Miners (28-21) on Monday at Linda K. Epling Stadium.

Coward struck out 13 hitters en route to the the Butler BlueSox win. Coward allowed one earned run, four hits and two walks over seven innings.

Tyler Niemann racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Butler BlueSox. He homered in the fifth inning.

Despite the loss, the West Virginia Miners' Cody Ballay dominated the Butler BlueSox's batters, giving up zero runs and striking out five.

Art Salazar Jr was charged with his third loss of the year. He allowed six runs in five innings, walked four and struck out three.
