The Chillicothe Paints get on top of the Butler BlueSox early but can't hang on in 7-3 loss

The Chillicothe Paints (18-17) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 7-3 to the Butler BlueSox (17-19) on Wednesday.

While the Chillicothe Paints led until the seventh inning, the Butler BlueSox worked their way back and took the lead on an error.

Tyler Niemann was hot from the plate for the Butler BlueSox. Niemann went 2-3 and scored three runs. He singled in the second inning and tripled in the fourth inning.

The Chillicothe Paints couldn't get anything going so long as Jack Herzing was on the hill. Herzing held the Chillicothe Paints hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

Eli Boggess did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Chillicothe Paints, reaching base three times. He also drove in one runner. He singled in the first inning and doubled in the third inning.

Dillon Sunnafrank improved to 2-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Butler BlueSox. He allowed three runs over six innings. He struck out two, walked two and surrendered five hits.

David Current (1-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked two, struck out none, and allowed one run.
