The Medicine Hat Mavericks (12-11) shut the door early on the Weyburn Beavers (15-6), capturing a 13-5 victory on Monday at Athletic Park.

Nine runs in the first three innings allowed the Medicine Hat Mavericks to put the game away early.

A two-run single by Jose Cruz, an RBI single by Bryan Arthur, and an RBI single by Arthur during the first inning helped the Medicine Hat Mavericks put some runs on the board early.

Cruz racked up six RBIs on four hits for the Medicine Hat Mavericks.

Victor Soto pitched lights out for the Medicine Hat Mavericks. The Weyburn Beavers managed just three hits off of Soto, who allowed two earned runs, walked five and struck out three during his six innings of work.

Jordan Anderson led the Weyburn Beavers' offensive threat, as he got on base four times in the game. He scored one run and had one RBI. He doubled in the sixth inning and singled in the seventh and ninth innings.

Ryan Johnson couldn't get it done on the mound for the Weyburn Beavers, taking a loss. He allowed nine runs in three innings, walked three and struck out one.
