The Harwich Mariners get key pinch-hit in 12-2 victory over the Brewster Whitecaps

Story by Narrative Science.

Ian Happ was cold coming off the bench, but Happ warmed up quickly as Happ stroked a key pinch-hit single in the two to lead the Harwich Mariners (26-16) to a 12-2 win over the Brewster Whitecaps (17-25) on Monday at Whitehouse Field.

With the Harwich Mariners trailing by one, Happ came to the plate and singled.

Eight runs in the opening three innings allowed the Harwich Mariners to easily put away the Brewster Whitecaps. A sacrifice fly by Anthony Hermelyn, , a fielder's choice, a single by Kyle Barrett, a two-run single by Angelo Amendolare, an RBI single by Ronnie Glenn, and a fielder's choice during the second inning supplied the early offense for the Harwich Mariners.

Joe McCarthy got on base four times in the game for the Harwich Mariners. He doubled in the third inning.

The Brewster Whitecaps had no answer for Scott Tully, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Tully held the Brewster Whitecaps hitless over four innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out four.

Kenneth Oakley (2-4) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed six runs in 1 1/3 innings, walked two and struck out two.
