The Butler Blue Sox (23-17) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 5-4 to the West Virginia Miners (26-15) on Monday.
While the Butler Blue Sox led until the seventh inning, the West Virginia Miners worked their way back and took the lead on an RBI single by Mike Brosseau.
Ryan Perkins racked up two RBIs on three hits for the West Virginia Miners. He singled in the third and fifth innings and doubled in the seventh inning.
The Butler Blue Sox had no answer for Dalton Thompson, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Butler Blue Sox managed just one hit off of Thompson, who allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out none during his four innings of work.
Kyle Zaorski ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked two, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
