The Terre Haute Rex (15-10) rolled over the Quincy Gems (16-7) 7-1 on Wednesday at Quincy Stadium after a four-run rally in the eighth inning.
Kyle Kempf had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the first inning, singled in the sixth inning, and homered in the ninth inning.
Kyle Zimmerman put together a nice outing. Zimmerman gave up just three hits, allowed one earned run, walked three and struck out two during his six innings of work.
Will Schierholz (0-2) took the loss for the Quincy Gems. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
The Terre Haute Rex's Kempf, Cody Gardner and Zimmerman combined for seven hits and three RBIs.
