Once a highly lauded pitching prospect, an injury prior to his senior year at East Haven High School put Andrew’s plans to pitch in college ball on the proverbial back-burner. Now, less than two years later, he joins the Schooners as an All-American catcher.
Named an NJCAA Div. II All-American (second team) in his rookie year at UConn-Avery Point, Andrew led the Pointers in runs, hits, RBI, average, on-base percentage and slugging, and allowed 0 earned runs in six appearances out of the bullpen. He comes to the Schooners on a 10-day contract with the opportunity to play his way into a full-time contract.
