Testa appeared in five games for nearby Harrisburg last season, in Double-A with the Washington Nationals organization. In 2011, he pitched for the Potomac Nationals in the A-Advanced Carolina League, and went 6-2 in 30 relief appearances with two saves. He struck out 34 in 38 innings that season. Entering his sixth professional season, Testa joined the Minnesota Twins organization in 2008 after pitching four years at Division I Wagner College on Staten Island in New York.
