From San Diego, California, the 6’6” 220 lb Baits is one of the top ranked pitchers in the state and is currently attending the University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB).  He was a 23rd round draft pick of the New York Mets in 2012.   Ranked 59th in the nation and 12th in the State of California by Perfect Game, Bates was the Western League Pitcher of the Year in 2012 after tossing six complete games, including two shutouts and posting a 1.84 ERA.  He was named Rawlings 2nd Team All-American and California – All Region 1st Team in 2012.  UCSB Head Coach Anndrew Checketts notes, “Connor was one of the most sought-after pitchers in California.
