Wanel Mesa begins his first season with the Ducks and his 10th in professional baseball. In 134 career appearances (15 starts), Mesa is 11-18 with a 6.27 ERA and seven saves. The right-hander last pitched professionally in the United States in 2013, splitting time between the St. Lucie Mets of the Florida State League and the Savannah Sand Gnats of the South Atlantic League in the New York Mets organization. Mesa spent the first five seasons of his career in the Washington Nationals organization, and has spent time in the Atlantic League with the Bridgeport Bluefish in 2012.
