Colton Simbeck had two extra base hits, sparking the Hamilton Joes (2-1) to an 11-6 victory over the Champions Academy (0-1) on Sunday at Foundation Field.

Brett McKinney shut down the Champions Academy while he was on the mound. McKinney gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two during his three innings of work.

Jordan Deeds was effective even in defeat, mowing down five the Hamilton Joes batters and allowing one run.

Jacob Kinney reached base four times in the game for the Champions Academy. He doubled in the ninth inning.

Ethan McAlpine, Jeff Smith and Simbeck helped lead the Hamilton Joes. They combined for six hits and five RBIs.

Tyler Sexton couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Champions Academy, taking a loss. He lasted just three innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed five runs.
