Early lead not enough for the Edinburg Roadrunners, drop 5-1 decision to the Fort Worth Cats

The Edinburg Roadrunners (9-9) built an early edge on Sunday, but the Fort Worth Cats (12-5) roared back to steal a 5-1 victory at LaGrave Field.

While the Edinburg Roadrunners led until the seventh inning, the Fort Worth Cats worked their way back and took the lead on a two-run single by Gabe Memmert.

RJ Harris paced the Fort Worth Cats at the plate. Harris went 3-4 and scored two runs. He singled in the second and seventh innings and doubled in the eighth inning.

Kane Holbrooks handled the Edinburg Roadrunners' lineup with ease, racking up eight strikeouts. Holbrooks allowed one earned run, eight hits and one walk over six innings.

Mace Thurman got the win, running his season record to 2-0. Thurman struck out one, walked one and gave up one hit.

Matison Smith couldn't get it done on the hill for the Edinburg Roadrunners, taking a loss. He lasted just six innings, walked two, struck out five, and allowed three runs.
