A seven-run explosion in the fifth inning hoisted the Wisconsin Woodchucks (23-19) to a 10-3 win over the Eau Claire Express (14-28) at Athletic Park on Thursday.
Brendon Hayden racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Wisconsin Woodchucks. He singled in the second inning and doubled in the fifth inning.
It was a good day at the plate for the Eau Claire Express' Ryan Shober. Shober went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He doubled in the seventh inning and singled in the eighth innings.
Alex Vetter improved to 2-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Wisconsin Woodchucks. He allowed one run over 5 2/3 innings. Vetter struck out three, walked five and gave up five hits.
Philip Walby ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He allowed six runs in four innings, walked four and struck out one.
