The Thunder Bay Border Cats' offense erupts for 17 runs in blowout victory over the Alexandria Beetles

The Thunder Bay Border Cats (13-17) continued to pile up the runs on Friday, scoring four runs in the last three innings, en route to an easy 17-7 win over the Alexandria Beetles (11-19) at Knute Nelson Memorial Park.

The Thunder Bay Border Cats scored seven runs in the fifth on a three-run double by Danny Bethea, , an RBI single by James Bonds, a sacrifice fly by Luke Willis, and an RBI double by Brett Kay.

The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to six lead changes in the game.

Kay put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Thunder Bay Border Cats.

Even though Dan Ludwig allowed seven runs over five innings he still recorded the victory, his second of the season. Ludwig struck out four, walked two and gave up 13 hits.

Mitchell Babb ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his fifth loss of the year. He allowed eight runs in four innings, walked four and struck out two.

The Thunder Bay Border Cats easily handled the Alexandria Beetles pitching as seven hitters combined for 10 hits, 14 RBIs and 16 runs scored.
