John Allen clubbed two home runs to carry the Laredo Lemurs (26-31) to a 13-4 win over the Amarillo Sox (31-28) at Amarillo National Bank Sox Stad.
Allen racked up six RBIs on four hits for the Laredo Lemurs. He doubled in the second inning, homered in the fifth and seventh innings, and singled in the eighth inning.
The Laredo Lemurs blew out the Amarillo Sox thanks to 17 hits, including zero extra base hits. The Laredo Lemurs scored six runs in the fifth on a groundout by Kevin Butler, a sacrifice fly by Jimmy Mojica, a single by Uriak Marquez, a single by Javier Brito, a two-run single by Stephen Douglas, and a solo home run by Allen.
Matt Way's 12 strikeouts were enough to push the Laredo Lemurs past the Amarillo Sox. Way allowed two earned runs on four hits and five walks over seven innings.
Ryan Mitchell ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in five innings, walked none and struck out seven.
