Moreland's big day not enough as the Leesburg Lightning fall to the Orlando Monarchs, 15-10

The Leesburg Lightning (23-15) failed to take advantage of Brett Moreland's effort at the plate on Sunday, losing 15-10 to the Orlando Monarchs (18-18) at Pat Thomas Stadium/Buddy Lowe F.

Moreland blasted two home runs for the Leesburg Lightning. Moreland went 3-4 in the game with four RBIs and three runs scored. Moreland homered in the first and fifth innings.

The two teams combined for 25 runs and 30 hits, including zero extra base hits. There were 10 pitchers used in the game as the two managers searched for any way to finish it off.

Deandre Lankford helped the Orlando Monarchs pull ahead for the duration in the eighth inning. After Jean Gonzalez singled, Lankford reached on an error, bringing home Gonzalez and Jelaney Johnson.

Lankford was solid at the plate for the Orlando Monarchs. Lankford went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the second, fourth, and sixth innings.

Blake Prince had a hot bat for the Orlando Monarchs. Prince went 4-6, drove in one and scored four runs. He doubled in the seventh inning and singled in the third, eighth, and ninth innings.

Antwan Brown improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Orlando Monarchs. Brown struck out two, walked none and gave up no hits.

Trey Norris (1-4) took the loss for the Leesburg Lightning. He lasted just zero innings, walked one, struck out none, and allowed four runs.
