The D.C. Grays cough up lead, the Southern Maryland Nationals win 3-2

The Southern Maryland Nationals (15-26) trailed by one in the ninth, but the Southern Maryland Nationals recovered thanks to a key single in the ninth inning from Bryce Shemer to pull out a 3-2 win over the D.C. Grays (18-21) at Regency Furniture Stadium on Thursday.

With the score tied at two, Shemer came to the plate and singled, scoring Ricky Alfonso.

Alfonso racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Southern Maryland Nationals. He singled in the fifth inning and doubled in the ninth inning.

Michael Bowie handled the D.C. Grays' lineup with ease, racking up 10 strikeouts. Bowie allowed one earned run on five hits and five walks over eight innings.

Danny Wissman improved to 2-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Southern Maryland Nationals. He struck out none, walked none and surrendered no hits.

Chris Nee couldn't get it done on the rubber for the D.C. Grays, taking a loss. He lasted just three innings, walked one, struck out five, and allowed two runs.
