Gatlin's effort not enough in the Baltimore Redbirds' 9-6 loss

Story by Narrative Science.

Not even a strong hitting and pitching performance from John Gatlin could carry the Baltimore Redbirds (10-7) past the Youses Orioles at Calvert Hall HS on Monday as the Baltimore Redbirds suffered a 9-6 defeat.

Gatlin racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Baltimore Redbirds. He homered in the first inning and singled in the fifth inning.

Gatlin shut down the Youses Orioles (7-8) while he was on the mound. Gatlin gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out three during his three innings of work.

Erik Barber did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Youses Orioles, reaching base five times. He also drove in two runners. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the sixth and seventh innings.

The Baltimore Redbirds couldn't get anything going as long as D.J. Park was pitching. The Baltimore Redbirds managed just two hits off of the the Youses Orioles' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out five during his 4 2/3 innings of work.

Sean Keselica ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just two innings, walked three, struck out one, and allowed three runs.
