The Bethesda Big Train (1-4) came out firing, but couldn't hang on to the lead, ending up on the losing side of a 2-1 ballgame against the Herndon Braves (2-4) on Monday at Alan McCullock Field.
The Herndon Braves took the lead in the eighth inning on a solo home run by Joel Stubbs.
Stubbs had a hot bat for the Herndon Braves. Stubbs went 1-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the eighth inning.
The Bethesda Big Train had no answer for Heath Dwyer, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Bethesda Big Train managed just three hits off of Dwyer, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two during his four innings of work.
Hugh Adams (0-2) took the loss for the Bethesda Big Train. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out two, and allowed one run.
