Saturday was a great day for Ryan Cordell, as he went 5-5 at the plate to carry the Licking County Settlers (23-15) to an 11-2 victory over the Xenia Scouts (17-22) at Grady Field.
Cordell had three extra-base hits for the Licking County Settlers. He tripled in the third inning, singled in the first and fifth innings, doubled in the sixth inning, and homered in the eighth inning.
The Licking County Settlers blew out the Xenia Scouts thanks to 14 hits, including zero extra base hits. The Licking County Settlers scored four runs in the fifth on a solo home run by Nick Schulz, a two-run home run by Schulz, an RBI single by Matt Parisi, and a sacrifice fly by Austin Bossart.
Justin Fahy had a hot bat for the Xenia Scouts. Fahy went 2-4 and scored one run. He doubled in the seventh inning and singled in the fifth and ninth innings.
Heath Bowers improved to 4-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Licking County Settlers. He struck out one, walked three and surrendered no hits.
Jon Thacker ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He allowed eight runs in four innings, walked three and struck out none.
