The So. Ohio Copperheads (20-17) were never able to get over the hump and overcome their troubles against the Grand Lake Mariners (15-23) on Saturday, as the So. Ohio Copperheads fell 9-7 at Westview Park after falling behind by five runs in the third inning.

The So. Ohio Copperheads scored on an error and an RBI single by Aaron Novak in the fifth inning and a two-run home run by Blaise Salter and an RBI double by Lorenzo Papa in the seventh inning. Despite their efforts, the So. Ohio Copperheads couldn't finish the comeback.

Zack Edel racked up four RBIs on three hits for the Grand Lake Mariners. He tripled in the third inning and singled in the second and fifth innings.

Will Schierholz brought the heat against the So. Ohio Copperheads during his outing. Schierholz held the So. Ohio Copperheads hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

Salter racked up two RBIs on one hit for the So. Ohio Copperheads.

Steve Hagen recorded his second win of the year for the Grand Lake Mariners. He allowed two runs over two innings. He struck out three, walked one and surrendered four hits.

Eric Fredrick (0-4) took the loss for the So. Ohio Copperheads. He allowed nine runs in five innings, walked five and struck out eight.
