The Hamilton Joes cough up lead, the Cincinnati Steam win 8-7

The Cincinnati Steam (22-9) trailed by one in the ninth, but the Cincinnati Steam recovered thanks to a key single in the ninth inning from Robby Sunderman to pull out an 8-7 win over the Hamilton Joes (11-20) at Foundation Field on Saturday.

With the score tied at four in the ninth inning, Sunderman came to the plate and singled, scoring Tim OConner and Parker Wormsley.

Sunderman reached base one time.

The Cincinnati Steam held off the Hamilton Joes, as the Hamilton Joes were unable to overcome a four-run ninth inning deficit.

The Hamilton Joes scored three runs in the ninth on an RBI double by Devon Reed, a groundout by Michael Ricchi, and an RBI single by Tucker Tubbs. Despite their efforts, the Hamilton Joes couldn't finish the comeback.

Jake Madsen racked up four RBIs on three hits for the Cincinnati Steam. He singled in the first and eighth innings.

Alex Vice recorded his third win of the year for the Cincinnati Steam. He allowed three runs over 2 1/3 innings. He struck out two, walked one and surrendered three hits.

Ricchi ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
