The Licking County Settlers (18-14) beat the So. Ohio Copperheads (16-10) 5-2 on Thursday at Don Edwards Field behind Alex Johnson, who went 1-3 and hit a home run.

Thomas Olson brought the heat against the So. Ohio Copperheads during his outing. The So. Ohio Copperheads managed just one hit off of Olson, who allowed one earned run, walked none and struck out four during his three innings of work.

Dan Schmidt racked up two RBIs on two hits for the So. Ohio Copperheads. He singled in the fifth inning and homered in the eighth inning.

Michael Mestdagh looked sharp on the mound. Mestdagh held the Licking County Settlers hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

Connor Murphy improved to 3-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Licking County Settlers. He struck out two, walked one and surrendered two hits.

Jake Harper ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked four, struck out three, and allowed five runs.
