The Xenia Scouts (11-17) were never able to get over the hump and get over their troubles against the Lima Locos (19-11) on Tuesday, as the Xenia Scouts fell 5-4 at Grady Field after falling behind by five runs in the second inning.
The Xenia Scouts scored on a fielder's choice in the second inning, an error and an RBI double by Chandler Brock in the third inning, and in the eighth inning. Still, the Xenia Scouts couldn't draw even.
Taylor Pickens was hot from the plate for the Lima Locos. Pickens went 3-5, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the second, sixth, and ninth innings.
Despite the loss, the Xenia Scouts' Nathan Roth dominated the Lima Locos' batters, giving up zero runs and striking out five.
Ben Taylor improved to 2-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Lima Locos. He allowed three runs over five innings. He struck out five, walked three and surrendered six hits.
Jon Thacker was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out none, and allowed five runs.
