The Cincinnati Steam fight back, defeat the Lexington Hustlers, 5-4

Things looked bleak for the Cincinnati Steam (20-8) when they trailed by three runs in the eighth inning, but the Cincinnati Steam recovered thanks to a key single in the eighth inning from Jason Manis to pull out a 5-4 win over the Lexington Hustlers (12-15) at Western Hills HS.

With the score tied at four, Manis came to the plate and singled, scoring Bryan Beaver.

The Cincinnati Steam were led by Matt Williams's hitting. Williams went 3-4 and scored one run. He singled in the third and fifth innings and doubled in the eighth inning.

Ryan Martin had an impressive outing against the Lexington Hustlers' lineup. Martin held the Lexington Hustlers hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

David Simmons got a hit in each of his two at bats. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the third inning.

Drew Campbell improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Cincinnati Steam. Campbell struck out two, walked one and gave up no hits.

Shaun Meyer ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just 2 2/3 innings, walked one, struck out seven, and allowed four runs.
