The Grand Lake Mariners cough up lead, the Cincinnati Steam win 7-6

A loss looked likely for the Cincinnati Steam (17-8) when they trailed by five runs in the fourth inning, but the Cincinnati Steam were able to capture the lead back with a a two-run single by Jake Madsen in the ninth inning, spurring the Cincinnati Steam to a 7-6 win over the Grand Lake Mariners (7-19) at Westview Park on Friday.

With the Cincinnati Steam trailing by one in the ninth inning, Madsen came to the plate and singled, scoring Parker Wormsley and Selby Chidemo.

Madsen got on base three times in the game for the Cincinnati Steam. He scored one run and had two RBIs. He singled in the ninth inning.

The Grand Lake Mariners had no answer for C.J. Gant, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Gant held the Grand Lake Mariners hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.

Dakota Irwin was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
